
Dr. Miller provides technical expertise for Aries in the areas of electronics, electrical engineering, and computer science.
He obtained the B.S.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. He received the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada, both in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Miller is a licensed professional engineer (P. Eng.) in the Province of Ontario (2005) and is a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (LMIEEE). He is a Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada and works in the Research Centre for Integrated Microsystems at the university.
His interests include electronics, digital signal processing, neural networks, microelectronics and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and control systems. Dr. Miller has authored or co-authored over 260 research papers in refereed journal and conference proceedings. He also holds a number of patents relating to the development of material forming processes and the associated machine design. He is a member of the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) research group for a major automotive company and works on DSP algorithms for engine diagnostic purposes. He has also been carrying out research in the design of MEMS devices for hearing instrument applications as part of a research collaboration with a number of private sector firms.
Dr. Miller holds a number of patents in the area of forming processes that require the use of smart sensors. Dr. Miller is currently a member of the Board of Directors of a not-for-profit corporation that delivers a comprehensive national research infrastructure support program to microsystems researchers in universities across Canada. His business interests include corporate governance and related performance metrics.
