President
Robert G. Miller, Ph.D.

Dr. Miller has more than 30 years of previous experience in quality assurance, research and development, operations, and business process improvement with the World’s most diversified health care company. In these capacities he held senior vice president positions. He secured ISO 9001 certification in the medical device portion of the business.

In 1995, Dr. Miller combined his knowledge of film and video with his extensive scientific and business background to create a company focused on the capture, retention, and transfer of the employee understanding deemed critical for the success of critical processes for technology based industries.

He created UOVRS™, a customizable, hierarchically structured, visual documentation database and player to organize and deliver the process specific understanding.

Dr. Miller has taught at Ryerson Polytechnic University, Seneca College, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Wisconsin. The courses he created covered topics from laboratory automation to pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Dr. Miller has been granted seven United States patents. He developed patented technologies with applications in medical devices, thin film forming processes, and various manufacturing processes. He has received several international awards for his pioneering work in laboratory robotics. He also developed a motion control platform for the video and film industry.

He served as a supporting member of the Ontario Science Centre, a member of its Board of Trustees, and is a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Dr. Miller holds a diploma in Chemical Technology from Ryerson Polytechnic University and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Toronto. He also holds a Masters degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from York University’s Centre for Research in Experimental Space Sciences.

Executive Technical Director
James A. Rudland B.Sc., R.T.

Mr. Rudland has 30 years of previous experience in quality assurance and manufacturing in both the pharmaceutical and medical device industries in the United States and Canada. He has worked extensively in the areas of sterile parenteral production and environmental control and monitoring. He has also held positions in international and domestic regulatory affairs at the senior vice president level.

In 1985, Mr. Rudland was responsible for the implementation and validation of the first high speed automatic particulate inspection equipment for use in the Canadian parenteral production market.

As a consultant, Mr. Rudland has authored guidance documents, trained plant core team leaders and has provided technical guidance to successfully redesign master batch documentation at various plants in North America. He is now involved in the development of dynamic visual documentation for business process improvement initiatives such as Lean, TPS, 5S, and the Visual Factory. This dynamic visual documentation has proven to be very effective in reducing costs associated with non-compliance as a result of employee misunderstanding.

Mr. Rudland has managed the preparation and negotiation for approval of NDSs, SNDSs, ANDs, and DINs with Canadian and US federal regulatory agencies and has secured regulatory approval for more than 50 products manufactured in the US and Canada. He has successfully facilitated associated FDA inspections at various sites in Canada and has conducted third party cGMP quality audits in Canada, US and Mexico.

Mr. Rudland holds a diploma in Immunohematology from The Toronto Institute of Medical Technology and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from York University in Toronto.
