Report dubs Canadian post-secondary
education ‘dysfunctional’

Download Article

I find it scary to think that 42% of adult Canadians fall below the standard in literacy required internationally to be productive in an older society. This is one of the findings in a report recently issued by the Canadian Council on Learning.

Being able to see how a process is performed and, at the same time, hear why it should be performed that way is the most effective way to overcome this “literacy barrier” that looms over many industrial sectors.

This is how all of us learned before we knew how to read.

Coupled with the fact that the aging workforce of baby boomers about to retire has been called a “demographic time bomb” whose effects have only started to be felt*, our industries must adjust to new paradigms before losing decades of knowledge.
